From beach bags to sandals; hats to outdoor accessories, raffia is no longer just about the classic farmer’s market tote. Whether traveling abroad this season or staying home and serving sangria in the backyard, raffia is THE chosen material of the summer to complete that effortless European look.
We are heading to Italy later this week, and I wanted to snag a multi-purpose bag that would work overtime for city touring, a seaside beach club, and countryside cooking lessons. I found more than enough choices in a plethora of price points and decided on this simple one from J. Jill (pssst…it’s a pretty good dupe on the much more $$$$ Altuzarra bag) as well as a couple of little crossbody and clutch numbers from Shein and J. Crew for dinners out.
Raffia (as well as seagrass, straw, wicker, jute, and palm leaf) is certainly having a moment in 2022. From tabletop to totes, I love the casual, exotic feel it lends to a look or space. Classic, fabulous, and oh so very functional, you can’t go wrong with raffia this season.
Viva la summer!
